These forums are for:
Any person can view the posts made to the FreeREG discussion Forums. However to post a comment or question you must first register with British Genealogy. Please follow their instructions on how to register. The difference between these Forums and the mailing lists discused below is primarily the method of access. With the discusion Forums you must vist the site to see the information. With mailing lists you will receive an e-mail of the the posting at the time of posting. Also you can search the archives of earlier posts. The members of both Forums and lists will certainly be different and there is likely some limited duplication of information.

It is not for posting questions about how to conduct research generally, or requests for information on your ancestors. Flaming and argument is not allowed, and advertising is not allowed, and people doing that will simply be removed from the list of subscribers. Do not try to moderate the list or respond to flaming. That is the List Owner's job. Frequently asked questions on the list, with their answers, may be subsequently posted on our FreeREG FAQ web pages.
To subscribe to the mailing list:
To SUBSCRIBE(UNSUBSCRIBE) to the mailing list in email mode. (You will receive copies of each email as it is posted)
Send a message to FREEREG-Lfirstname.lastname@example.org with the one word subscribe(unsubsribe) in the body of the message.

To POST a message to this list send an email to the address: FREEREG@rootsweb.com
This is a mailing list used by the co-ordinators to correspond with each other. Nothing secret in here, but just boring admin stuff relating to the operation of FreeREG as well as technical stuff related to the running and setting up of the project.
This is a closed list and only available by invitation from the Project Coordinator.
