SpeedREG: Uploading data files to FreeREG

SpeedREG is the program which runs on your own computer into which you enter data.

It creates a data file which then has to be uploaded (sent) to the FreeREG database.

Your data files are ready for uploading but SpeedREG can't do this for you. You have to get online, go to the FreeREG web site (http://freereg.rootsweb.com) and find your way through to the transcribers' sign on screen - BOOKMARK THIS POINT FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

You must ask one of the project organisers for an account name and password, if you have not done so already.

Once signed on you will be asked for:

File Name - The name under which the batch is stored by FreeREG. If, say, your file is M202.CSV then type M202.
Upload - Full path and file name of the batch on your PC e.g. C:\SPEEDREG\M202.CSV
Scroll down a bit and click on [Send].

If you get any error messages go back to SpeedREG and fix them, save the batch and try again.
