Obtaining the Approval of The Church of England/Vicar.

In some cases it may be neccessary to approach the parish Vicar for explicit approval to transcribe his/her registers. A letter of the following type may be adapted for this purpose. Replace X by the county you are working in and replace Y with the specific parish for which you are seeking permission. It would be good to find out the name of the Vicar and use his/her specific title in place of the Reverend at the start of the letter.

An example of the type of approval we have received is shown for Pershore.

A similar letter can be written to the Archbishop if that seems appropriate.
